Visit to Grandma Marta

Summary

Grandma Marta is sleeping at her house, in the thick of the wood. The first spring flowers wake her up. They announce her that February has gone away and the forest is getting ready to meet the spring and the first birds.

The stork is coming, bringing a letter to Grandma Marta from her brother April, who will arrive a month later. Grandma Marta is getting ready for his arrival – she does the housework, she adorns herself but the most important job is to prepare the martenitsi to offer them to everyone. She recieves her firts guests, the forest animals. They all sing a lot of greeting songs for receive a martenitsa, the spring talisman in white and red that brings good health and longevity. In the end Grandma Marta sets out, carrying her basket full of martenitsi. She will offer them to the children.
